The rise of a serial entrepreneur expert : Sean Evans California: Sean Evans grew up visiting his family cattle ranch every Thanksgiving. That same ranch is now the location of his family winery. The values and closeness of Sean’s early Thanksgivings with family translated to the founding of My Wine Society. The community life that was important to Sean’s upbringing is noticeable in many of the social features of the My Wine Society app. Sean’s creativity and ability to connect with people extends into the MWS Loyalty Club, a monthly subscription box that sends members wine and gifts in a themed box every month. See extra details at Sean Evans California.

Q: How did you get started as a founder? A: I’ve been a serial entrepreneur my whole life – I started my first company during my second year of business school in Oregon. When My Wine Society was founded it resulted from the desire to give wine connoisseurs like myself a platform to interact and connect with other like minded wine-lovers in the world. The partners at MWS decided we should form the company to accomplish just that task. Now, it has evolved into a company with expanded services for the wine drinking market segment.

Q: What has been your most satisfying moment in business? Every time that I start or sell a business it reminds me of the time I started and sold my first business. It’s an exhilaration to conduct the sale of a business. The experience of the sale/start-up is just as satisfying each time. What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about? For years, I would try and second-guess the business — thinking it was going this way or that — but I’ve grown to work with the present flow a lot more. People will always try and tell you what your business is and only your gut knows what you really want it to be. Can you share 3 of the best words of advice you’ve gotten along your journey? Please give a story or example for each. Everyone is either going into a crazy time in their business, coming out of a crazy time or they’re in a crazy time. No matter which part of the storm you’re in it will come and it will pass. It’s important to keep a level head and just keep pushing forward. I’ve never closed one of my companies, even in the worst of times. You’ll always find a way back into the light and be successful as long as you keep moving forward!

An interactive training/learning platform requires employees to respond to what they are learning. This forces them to integrate the learning content with their own unique way of thinking as they stop to reflect on the answer they should give or the path they should choose. Once the choice is made, the learner receives feedback to help them recognize what they know versus what they should know. At the same time, interactive software gives trainers the ability to assess the performance of individual learners spontaneously, and in real time. As an employee moves through the learning process, immediate feedback reinforces what they have learned and helps to steer them toward making better choices without compelling them to do so, as is often the case with traditional training and learning techniques.

Sean Evans or the rise of a business entrepreneur expert: The nature of the Middle East family office induces secrecy (many don’t even have a website), which makes it nearly impossible to blast off unsolicited pitches. So it really does come down to networking. But in the end, being able to break through and figure out a way to connect with the right family office can act as a natural selection process and indicate the hallmark of a good entrepreneur and good deal. Another great place to start is identifying other entrepreneurs who have been successful in your specific space and may currently have a family office or more formal startup investment program. Most often, your ideas will resonate with these folks first and best. There’s no doubt that the slowdown in venture investment is impacting companies across industries, COVID being the main driver. But entrepreneurs who open their eyes to non-traditional sources of capital and are willing to put in the legwork to identify them may find an enduring friend in the family.

The rise of a business entrepreneur leader : Sean Evans California: Given that you cannot live long without money and that your new business will not become profitable from the beginning, it is preferable to start in business while you still have a job and a stable source of income. This will give you a form of comfort and will help you focus on the vital aspects of business development and not just on providing some money for your own survival. Once the business starts to become profitable and you take on more and more time, you can resign. The existence of a support system both during the start-up period and during its development is very important. Try to find support within your family and consult with them when you want to make decisions and need advice. Ideally, you should find a mentor to offer you from his experience. To do this, you could register your business idea in one of the training and consulting programs implemented through European funds such as Entrepreneur 2.0.
